Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year at Memorial Drive Elementary! This newsletter contains important information from the best PTA in the USA as well as details about New Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher, and the unveiling of Lucy's Lab August 11.

Back-to-School Grade Level (1st-5th Grade) Pool Parties are LIVE! Click here to purchase.  Grab your friends, soak up the last days of summer, and celebrate a new school year together! These parties are sold through our MDE Gala & Auction team and support MDE PTA-funded programs and activities for our students and teachers.  Hope to see you poolside, Ponies!  All MDE Gala and Auction items will be purchased using the Greater Giving platform - Step 1: click on the link to select your grade level party, Step 2: register or sign into greater giving, Step 3: wait for your welcome text and click on link to purchase.  We want every child to have the opportunity to attend, if you need assistance purchasing a party please email Michelle Williams at president@mdepta.org.

Welcome to Kindergarten Party will be on Saturday, August 8th from 1-4pm at First Baptist Church Indoor Playground (7401 Katy Fwy).  No RSVP needed - just show up ready to meet your new classmates and parents!

Welcome to PreK Party will be on Wednesday, August 12th at 10am at home of The Brown Family (593 Shadow Way Court).  No RSVP needed - just show up ready to meet your new classmates and parents!

The last day to order School Supplies through Sprout was July 7th.  If you missed the deadline, not to worry! Please use our MDE Grade Level School Supplies List to purchase the items on your own.  We encourage you to bring your school supplies to Meet the Teacher on August 11th from 8:30-9:45am  We want EVERY child to be equipped and prepared for the school year, if you have previously requested or need assistance purchasing school supplies please email Emely.Benavides@springbranchisd.com. 

MDE Spirit Store was open for a presale over the summer.  It will re-open on August 1st for a short period of time to ensure all of our new families have the opportunity to purchase MDE swag!  Questions? We can't wait to welcome you all Tuesday, August 11 for New Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher, and the Unveiling of Lucy's Lab in partnership with Bright Like Lucy.  

8:30-9:00  New Parent Orientation in the Multipurpose Room (MPR)

9:00-9:45 Meet the Teacher* for all classrooms and specials

9:45-10:15 Lucy's Lab Unveiling, Room 133

Homeroom emails will be sent out Friday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m.

*Meet the Teacher is a quick chance to meet your child's teacher, see the classroom, and meet some classmates. If your family is unable to attend Meet the Teacher, you are welcome to send an email introducing yourself and your child to the teacher.

If you are interested in your child taking a credit by exam this August, please fill out the Google Form to register. All form submissions are due by July 27th. Please know that if your student(s) tested in July, they are not eligible to also test in August. Students are also only allowed to take each test twice, for example if your students tested in any combination of February, June, and July they are not eligible to take the exam again.

Do these two things now to make your life easier this fall.  

Fill out your annual Volunteer Application so you can chaperone field trips, be a parent reader, or volunteer on campus.

Download the Spring Branch ISD TX App in the App Store or Google Play.  This will be your primary communication hub with the school.
